A Cheapside reader emailed to say the last post was ‘spot on’ and that Corbyn is showing up many Labour Party MPs for the neo-liberals they are.

Rachel_maskell BridgeA Selly Oak co-operator read with regret a disloyal letter from MP Steve McCabe.

Later she was disappointed to read that three Co-operative Party members of Parliament resigned from Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet.

kate osamorMr Corbyn announced that Rachael Maskell (Left: Labour and Co-op MP for York Central) would become shadow environment food and rural affairs secretary.

Kate Osamor (Labour and Co-op MP for Edmonton) will now serve as shadow international development secretary.

From Perry Barr, another reader sends news that – according to the Birmingham Post – seven Birmingham councillors have signed a letter of support for Corbyn from West Midlands councillors. The letter states:

“Our enemy is not Jeremy Corbyn – it is the Tory party and their plans to use the EU referendum as a fig leaf to inflict further cuts to the councils we represent. We hope that those MPs who have embarked on this indulgent course of action will reflect on their behaviour and turn their fire on the real enemy, the Tory Party.”

The Birmingham councillors who signed the letter backing Corbyn are:

Mohammed Aikhlaq (Bordesley Green)

Steve Booton (Weoley)

Diane Donaldson (Hodge Hill)

Shabrana Hussain (Springfield)

Majid Mahmood (Hodge Hill)

Habibur Rehman (Springfield)

Sharon Thompson (Soho)

A letter calling on Corbyn to resign was signed by two Birmingham councillors – John Cotton (Shard End) and John O’Shea (Acocks Green).
