Co-wheels Birmingham is a local car club, operated under license by social enterprise Green Revolutions CIC. It is part of the Co-wheels network of community-led car clubs, which operates in 50 locations across the UK.
Launched in 2013, Co-wheels Birmingham now has over 70 members, with pay-as-you go vehicles ready for immediate hire in Bournville, Cotteridge Park, Stirchley and Kings Heath – with more locations and cars on the way! Members can drive low-emission, well-maintained cars without the hassle and cost of owning, insuring and maintaining their own. Sandra Green, the Director, explains:
“We’re committed to helping our members save money, reduce car ownership and create a cleaner environment for our city.
“One car club car can replace 20 privately owned vehicles and our members drive fewer miles and make healthier transport choices.
“We also support people who cannot afford to buy a car by enabling them the freedom and affordability of our pay-as-you-go pricing.
“As a social enterprise, we are proud to trade for people and planet, not shareholders.
“At our open day on Sunday, people can see the LEAF in action and find out more about the car club over a cuppa and cake”.

It is the world’s best-selling electric car, and sales have only been increasing (thanks to falling prices and word of mouth). After test driving several EVs, the reviewer says that it would be hard to beat the Nissan Leaf for the money… Read the full Nissan Leaf review here.
